Watershed Outreach Coordinator

Full Time Permanent Position

The Watershed Coordinator position is a permanent, tax revenue funded position with the Green Lake Sanitary District. This position is under the general supervision of the GLSD Administrator in partnership with the Green Lake and Fond du Lac Counties’ Land and Water Conservation Departments.  The Coordinator position will work exclusively within the Big Green Lake Watershed in both Green Lake and Fond du Lac Counties, WI.  This is a critical position that will focus on outreach to farmers/producers, initial BMP planning/coordination, and providing information/education to agricultural producers/landowners within the watershed.

Aqweed Harvesting & Conservancy Lands
Maintenance Crewperson

Limited Term Employee Position

Responsibilities to include:

  1. Operate harvester, and truck in a safe and efficient manner.
  2. Perform pre-operation, during-operation, and post-operation maintenance checks and report all problems to the Aqweed Harvesting Crew Leader.
  3. Assist in all mechanical maintenance and repairs as required and directed by the Aqweed Harvesting Crew Leader.
  4. Perform physical task of pitching weeds from harvester, truck, shore or other surface or area as required by the situation at hand.
  5. Meet and interact with the public to answer questions in a courteous manner, refer complaints and escalating situations to Aqweed Harvesting Crew Leader.
  6. Understand harvesting techniques and guidelines taught by Crew Leader. Ask Crew Leader any questions pertaining to harvesting techniques and guidelines.
  7. Perform all reasonable duties and tasks as directed by the Aqweed Harvesting Crew Leader.
  8. Assist Aqweed Harvesting Crew Leader in filing and reporting complaints (as needed) to the GLSD Administrator.
  9. Perform necessary maintenance mowing/weed whipping of trails & invasive species locations on Conservancy Properties.
  10.  Hand cut buckthorn and other invasive brush using chain saws, brush cutters, etc. on Conservancy Properties.  Piling brush in manner directed by Treatment Plant Operators.
  11.  Maintain and repair Conservancy trails as directed by Treatment Plant Operators.
  12.  Remove dead carp as needed from carp barriers and lake/marsh locations.
  13.   Assist Plant Operators in installing/repairing carp barriers in the lake/marsh.  This requires physical work while standing in several to many feet of water.
  1.   Assist Plant Operators as needed with sewer maintenance work.
  2.   Assist Plant Operators and Waste Management with garbage collection within the GLSD as needed.
  3.   Any other duties and tasks as directed within reason to assist the GLSD staff and Board during the Summer months.
  4.   The Aqweed Harvesting/Conservancy Lands Maintenance Crewperson is a seasonal position with annual hours during the Summer months (May through September).

Conservancy Lands Maintenance & GLSD Projects Crewperson

Limited Term Employee Position

Responsibilities to include:

  1. Hand cut buckthorn and other invasive brush using chain saws, brush cutters, etc. on Conservancy Properties.  Piling brush in manner directed by Treatment Plant Operators.
  2. Maintain and repair Conservancy trails as directed by Treatment Plant Operators.
  3. Safely handle and discharge herbicides on invasive species on GLSD/Conservancy properties.
  4. Assist Plant Operators in restoration projects in lake/marsh locations. This requires physical work while standing in several to many feet of water.
  5. Remove dead carp as needed from carp barriers and lake/marsh locations.
  6. Undertake water sampling in the lake as directed by GLSD staff.
  7. Assist Plant Operators as needed with sewer maintenance work.
  8. Assist Plant Operators and Waste Management with garbage collection within the GLSD as needed.
  9. Any other duties and tasks as directed within reason to assist the GLSD staff and Board during the Summer months.
