The GLSD operates as both a sewer utility and as a lake district. Through the use of our residents\u2019 tax dollars, we provide services including funding agricultural best management practices in the watershed to improve water quality entering the lake, purchasing and maintaining Conservancy Partnership properties, harvesting aquatic plants from the navigation lanes of the lake, harvesting carp from the County K Marsh, operating the Green Lake fish rearing facility, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We keep our staff numbers low and in turn our staff work very hard to keep costs for the various projects to a minimum. To this end, we have had residents in recent years help our efforts by donating money to further our work. We now have residents and non-residents provide private funding for projects such as the acquisition of the lake trout each year for our rearing facility (the fish used to be free from the state), additional maintenance or planting of trees on our Conservancy Partnership properties, as well as toward the purchase of additional lands within the watershed to protect Green Lake. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
To facilitate these donations, and to now be able to accept required minimum distributions directly from donor accounts, the GLSD has partnered with the Oshkosh Community Foundation for our \u201cGreen Lake Watershed Projects Fund\u201d.
